The annual Media & Technology Showcase was September 11th at the Liberty County Board of Education. This year close to eighty attendees cruised in to check out the latest products in technology/ media, and participate in media geared workshops.
The following companies where on site to exhibit and demonstrate their products: ByteSpeed, Camcor, Inc., Curious Moon Puppets, EducationCity.com, eInstruction, Follett Library Resources, Learning Through Wonder, Permabound, Rand McNally, S & L Sales Company, Scholastic Book Fairs, Smart Technologies, The Story Ship, Tech4Learning, Tommy Johns Presents, Usborne Books & More, World Book, Inc., and Xerox Audio Visual Solutions.
Attendees participated in three out of the six workshop offerings. The workshops offered included: "A Blogging Safari" presented by Melissa Roberts of the Liberty County Technology Department; "But Wait! There's More! Make Your BookTalks POP!" presented by Tommy Johns of Tommy Johns Presents;"Storytime Antics" presented by Betsy Stow, the Children's Librarian, at the Liberty Branch of the Live Oak Public Libraries; "D-I-I-G-O and Diigo Was Its Name-O"and "30-Minute Podcasts" presented by Daniel Rivera of First Distric RESA; and "Collaboration Corner" was presented by Joanne Newland of Sallie Zetterower Elementary and Jeff Staggs of Liberty County High School.
The vendors and attendees enjoyed delicious snacks prepared by Bradwell Institute's own Tiger Cafe' , sponsored by Debora Stevens. The Tiger Cafe' catered breakfast and a mid-day snack.
Several door prizes were awarded during the event. The largest prizes awarded included: eInstruction raffled off a MOBI. ByteSpeed raffled off a 10" Netbook, EducationCity gave away one year of services to one lucky winner. Tommy Johns Presents and Learning Through Wonder each gave away one half-day of school assemblies to one lucky winner!
