Looking to the Future

After taking time to review the suggested web links from the media meeting, please note two or three new ideas you would like to use in your media program. Describe briefly how you would adapt or implement the ideas.

  1. I reviewed the Sprayberry High School Media Center page. I have considered making the LCHS media page a blog just as they have done. I also like the fact that they have included the Teen Peach Book award winners list as a suggestion for summer reading. This could be broadened to include a list of new books as they arrive. I also would like to include a more comprehensive list of links to various resources such as the public library, paid database subscriptions, etc.

  3. I really liked all the resources on the Eastside Elementary School- especially this one:

I also really like all the links they had available to teachers:

  4. I like the Reader's Rally and the idea of having a Storytelling Festival.

  5. MMS: I took a look at the Hopewell Mustangs Media Center site. I like the way they put a lot of information about GALILEO on their website. They put separate links for several of GALILEO's features that students could utilize. This is something that I could mirror on my Media site. I think it would be really useful for our students.

  6. Adding the LMC's rules, hours, and how to log onto Destiny would be good ideas.

  7. I was fortunate enough to work at Harbins Elementary with Cindy Brooks. She is an awesome media specialist!! Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Some of the new things she has added since I left was the storytelling festival and Peachtree Publisher book fair. I would love to get in touch with her and see what she did for these. Way to go Cindy!

  8. I like the idea of including copright information for students on the web page rather than just what we cover in person. The list of HRRB books as a page is nice. Library expectations is nice. BI

  9. I looked at East Side Elementary's media webpage. The layout was nice and inviting; I liked the image map that she uses as a navigation tool. I especially liked her link that features the WESE news crew! This is an area that I have not done well with this year...and I found lots of great rubrics and forms that she uses when she is setting up her news program. With the help of her ideas, I feel a bit more motivated about getting the morning news show up and running again! :)

  10. I found a good idea for our WLHE auditions. Using an audition script is something I'll use from now on, instead of having the "auditionees" do it "on the fly".

I also liked the idea of holding a Storytelling Festival in coordination with a book fairs.

The "Do We" Really Know Dewey web site looks excellent. I'll definitely look more into that.

  11. East Side Elementary had some interesting sites concerning evaluating using the internet. The lesson plans for the different grade levels would be very helpful.

  12. I promise I did this at the meeting, but for some reason it did not show. I looked at the Hopewell Middle school and it really just seemed like an average Middle School with an average page.
