I provide information through a brochure. I will approach teachers individually to see what students have already done that could be included in the media festival.
ReplyDeleteMy computer lab teacher and I have been collaborating to begin storyboarding with the 4th and 5th graders at our school. We began meeting about a month ago, and we showed them some of the awesome projects on the lib. co. webpage that used Paint, had digital camera pics, used scanned drawings...we showed them the different ways that you could use PowerPoint and PhotoStory to make the project. The students left with a storyboard I made for them, and now they are beginning putting their pics and stories together.
ReplyDeleteWe had a big Science Fair at our school, and now that that is done, we will promote Media Festival at a staff meeting and begin to offer help. I am looking forward to collaborating with some of my "usuals" as well as maybe some new ones!
I am working with our computer lab teacher with 4th and 5th graders on their websites. I will help them find sites and cite them for their projects. I will also give all of the staff information about the festival.
ReplyDeleteShould anyone agree to participate, I will give moral support. DMC
ReplyDeleteI have offered help through my school web site, morning announcements, Mr. Carrier's daily announcements, emails and on-the-spot talks.

ReplyDeleteMedia fest is promoted at lh via emails to teachers and also discussed during staff meetings and principal's advisory commmittee meeting. My personal involvement with the festival will be limited this year due to my upcoming surgery. Our principal has asked our computer lab teacher to take on a more active role with the festival, so I'm hoping that this may happen.
ReplyDeleteI am working with all the second grade classes to create a digital storybook using Pixie and am also working with fourth graders on a research-based powerpoint and also our GATE teacher with digital storybooks. There are two additional first grade teachers that are in the planning stages.
ReplyDeleteMembers of the Technology committee have been working on "how to" sessions with teachers in creating multi-media projects and we have purchased additional cameras and flip cams.

I will give the teachers the information such as necessary forms; have a meeting with interested teachers who would like to do class projects and invidual projects. I am also going to have mini-lessons on using PhotoStory and provide any other lessons needed. Some teachers have been working on class projects already. I will also share the media page with the samples on it with the teachers. JBE!!
ReplyDeleteWPE-I am setting up times & days for IT's to present Pixie to several classes. The teachers and students in those classes are going to work on fest projects.
ReplyDeleteMMS: I normally meet with each ELA class in the school and give a presentation about Media Festival. We talk about what type of projects are accepted and I offer to help them modify things they have already done since the last Media Festival. This year I may just meet with the Gifted team and utilize the items that I received as part of my Bright Ideas grant.
ReplyDeleteAt LES, I am working with the computer lab teacher. So far, we have worked with second graders on their project boards. For two weeks, the second grade classes have gone to computer lab and then have come to the media center for follow up. In addition, I will be working with individual teachers to help with classroom projects.
ReplyDeleteJME: In addition to helping our 4th and 5th grade students find websites for their projects,(see Dec. 9 comment) we have used the card catalog to find nonfiction books to gather info for their topics.
ReplyDeleteAt Lewis Frasier my gifted teachers are working with their classes to do projects. I gave a presentation to the 6th graders to "refresh" the information about the Festival and answer any questions they had. All teachers have been encouraged to keep their eyes open for any projects that the students do that would be good to enter.
